The demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Sikkim has intensified with the Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) taking the agitation to the national capital.
Members of the HSP today staged demonstration at the Jantar Mantar in support of it’s demand.

Basnett said,”We are demanding implementation of ILP, since lot of labourers come to Sikkim in view of the ongoing construction works. It is a big threat to national security, if such individuals enter Sikkim if their documents are unchecked.”
Bina Basnett further pointed out that implementation of ILP is a must to control the menace of drugs trade.
The SKM leader said, “The way population is growing in Sikkim and the menace of drug trade is increasing, to stop this we are demanding implementation of ILP.”
Besides, the SKM leader also reiterated her party’s opposition to the Supreme Court observation on the Sikkimese Nepali community being tagged as “foreigners.”
Basnett said, “If we speak about the identity of the sikkimese who constitutes 80% of the population, but they have been given a different tag time and again. This has been repeating. we need a permanent solution once and for all.”
