Dalai Lama to visit Sikkim next month on 5-day visit: CM PS Tamang

CM Tamang and Ecclesiastical Minister, Ven Sonam Lama will be the Chief Patron and Patron respectively of the organising committee
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday informed that Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will pay a five-visit to Sikkim from October 10-14.
CM convened a meeting with senior officials at Mintokgang today to review preparations for the visit of the 14th Dalai Lama to the state.
“Ever since we formed the government in 2019, it has been our continued effort to extend an invitation to His Holiness to visit Sikkim and seek His blessings. Finally, our effort is seeing fruition this year. So we should leave no stone unturned in making the visit a historic and memorable one”, the chief minister said.
CM Tamang will be the Chief Patron, Ven Sonam Lama, Minister of Cooperation, RDD and Ecclesiastical Department will be the Patron of the organising committee while chief secretary V B Pathak will serve as the chairman.
Chairing the meeting attended among others by Ecclesiastical Minister Ven Sonam Lama, Chief Secretary Pathak, Additional Chief Secretary S Sudhakar Rao and heads of various departments, CM Tamang stressed on the importance of the Dalai Lama’s visit and directed everybody to take it seriously.
The Tibetan spiritual leader has last visited Sikkim in 2010.
