Organic King Chilli – Naga Mircha Festival 2024 to be Held at Seiyhama Village on Sept 6

The organizers said this year they are expecting to have around 2500 kilograms almost equivalent to 700 tins of king chilly for the festival.

Seiyhama Village under Kohima District of Nagaland is getting ready to host the 3rd edition of the Organic King Chilli- Naga Mircha Festival 2024 on September 6.
Sharing details about the festival, Savio Metha, General Secretary of the organizing committee said that a variety of King Chilli such as dry, fresh King Chilli, pounded, pickled will be on display along with other organic vegetables and fruits will be available for purchasing.
The organizers said this year they are expecting to have around 2500 kilograms almost equivalent to 700 tins of king chilly for the festival.
There will be food stalls too where visitors will get a chance to taste the cuisine of Seiyhama village.
Besides a King Chilli eating competition, traditional games like bamboo walk, bamboo climbing, war cry and catapult shooting will also be held at the Festival.
The organisers informed that the competition is open to all and cash prizes will be given to the winners.
Prize will be given to the farmer producing the highest number of King Chillies and the best quality among the cultivators, Metha also said.
As many as 157 households of Seiyhama Village are cultivating King Chillies and this year the village is expecting to harvest 14,000 kilograms of the chilli variety popular for its high heat level. The village expects to earn Rs 60 lakh from the produce.
