NCP said that they have decided to extend unconditional support to the Rio-led government even if no portfolios were offered to the NCP MLAs

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Nagaland has offered unconditional support to the Rio-led Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance government in Nagaland and already had two rounds of discussion with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

NCP said that they have decided to extend unconditional support to the Rio-led government and to work together to resolve the Naga issue, ENPO issue and others even if no portfolios were offered to the NCP MLAs.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, the Spokesperson of NCP, Nagaland S.Toiho Yeptho said, “The support of NCP is actually not towards the forming of opposition less government. We do not know about other parties, but as far as the NCP is concerned, we have unanimously decided to support Rio’s government and the reason being that among all 7 NCP MLAs, we have a very good relationship with our chief minister. All seven of us know CM for quite some time now, so it is nothing new to us that we have decided to join him and we had communicated with our party supremo Sharad Pawar and he had given the approval to join the Government.” said S.Toiho Yeptho.

“We have submitted our letter of support and in that letter of support, it was unconditional support. So the question of another round of talk actually does not arise. We have already expressed our views and given them in written also. So we will be part of the government and will strengthen the Government because people have no doubt voted for Neiphiu Rio’s leadership and we know that Rio has been voted by the people as the leader to lead the Naga people. We heard them and accordingly we are supporting the Government. So whether any portfolios or any assignment will be given to us or not we have written for unconditional support,” S.Toiho Yeptho added.
