While reiterating about the commitment to facilitate a solution to the Naga issue, CM Rio highlighted the significance of the Opposition-less government
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today reiterated that finding a solution to the decades old Naga political issue is the top priority for his government.
Addressing the first General Body Meeting of his party- the Nagaland Democratic Progressive Party, Rio pointed out to the most significant political development of the state, when an Opposition-less government came into being for the sole agenda of pursuing the Naga political issue.
Rio exuded confidence that if this (Opposition-less government) continues than a lot more can be achieved as far as a solution to the Naga issue is concerned.
The Nagaland Chief Minister in his address to the party workers said, “We have done a lot. For the Opposition less government our top priority is the Naga issue and will continue to work towards finding an amicable solution. The Political Affairs Committee of the party (NDPP) should also convey the alliance political parties who are in the government, because the agenda is same. I am sure together we will be stronger and it will have much more meanings.”
Chief Minister Rio also highlighted the significance of the Opposition-less government and mentioned, “May be I dont deserve, but all of you are good to me and God’s Blessing and above all of us decided that we will run an Opposition less govt. That is an icing on the cake. And how we could come together it is not the goodness of the leader, nor anybody but there is one issue, that is the Naga political issue. we had committed to the electorates we had promised that we will be an active facilitator to bring solution to the Naga political issue. Given the conditions, given the commitment and promise to the electorates, that has brought us together in the same platform to run an Opposition less government.”
On the other hand, NDPP President Chingwang Konyak also batted for an honourable and acceptable solution through a negotiated political settlement.
“The NDPP assure that the party will not be mute spectator but will be pro active and will do everything possible to strengthen the ongoing peace process and play the role of a active facilitator to bring early solution, ” Konyak said.
