Leader of NSCN-K Yung Aung splinter group faction surrenders

A top leader of the NSCN-K Yung Aung splinter group faction surrendered to the Assam Rifles on Sunday evening near Aboi in Nagaland’s Mon district.

As per sources, the leader, identified as A. Kampei Opeiham, was the Chairman of the Konyak Region and the Cabinet Kilonser and Central Executive Committee Member.

In a release issued by the splinter group, it was stated that Khampei was discharged from all his duties on health grounds.

Khampei was reportedly given safe passage to enter India and was received by the Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police.

Khampei is also said to be the mastermind of the 2022 Independence Day attack at the Assam Rifles post in Nyasha and Longwa.
