Kohima BJP unhappy over seat sharing with NDPP; requests party leaders not to fall into NDPP’s trap

Ticket for the Southern Angami seat should be given to BJP’s Kropol Vitsu who had joined BJP at a time when no one else was willing

Grass root BJP leaders in poll bound Nagaland seem to be quite unhappy with the seat sharing formula between the Saffron Party and NDPP.

This is evident from the ongoing protest at the Kohima district BJP office which entered it’s 4th day today.

Although, the NDPP and the BJP are yet to announce it’s candidates for the 15-Southern Angami seta, the prevailing situation gives a clear picture that the BJP workers are irked over the fact that the Neiphiu Rio-led NDPP will be contesting from the seat as per the seat sharing formula agreed by both the parties.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Kohima BJP president Khrielie Usou said, “From day one all the karyakartas (workers) of Kohima district BJP are demanding only one ticket for the Kohima district excluding Tseminyu and that ticket should be given to Er Kropol Vitsu.”

Backing the demand of the Kohima BJP for giving a ticket to Er Kropol Vitsu, Khrielie Usou said,”what our stand is from Day 1 is that ticket must be given to Er Kropol who was from 15 Southern Angami 2. Why? Because when everybody had hesitated to join the BJP Er Kropol had willingly accepted our request and he joined our party with all his supporters and had resigned from NPF.”

“We have worked very hard for the party since last year and now we have brought the party to a stage, to a level that we are sure to win. So, we request our leaders not to accept others,” Usou added.

In fact, the BJP leader went on to request the BJP central leadership not to fall into NDPP’s trap.
Usou said, “So we request our leaders not to accept the others. They should not fall to the trap of our partner NDPP and divert the BJP ticket.”

Expressing solidarity to the demand, the Kohima district BJP president said, “That is our stand and we standby it from Day 1 and we will standby that.”
