The Nagaland government is also making all out efforts to check the menace of illegal migration.
This is clearly understood from the developments that took place after a meeting between the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho and Nagaland PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi today.

The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho is the apex body of the Western Sumi Gaon Burahs(Village Chiefs).

During the meeting, talks focused on as to how the issue of influx can be dealt with. The minister in the meeting urged the Western Sumi Kukami Hohos to ensure that the Inner Line Permit system is totally enforced.

Minister Jacob Zhimomi took to Twitter to share the developments that took place in the meeting.
Zhimomi said,”Had a constructive and indepth discussion with members of Western Sümi Kukami Hoho, the apex body of Western Sümi GBs who called on me. Apart from deliberation on developmental matters, I’ve directed them to strictly enforce ILP; especially in Sümi villages bordering our neighbouring state.”

Jacob Zhimomi in his tweet also highlighted that it is the duty of every of stakeholder including the government to deal with such an issue.

He stated,”There are no two ways about it. Onus lies not only on the government but also the citizens led by the GBs whose active cooperation is required to tackle the issue of illegal immigration.”

it may be mentioned that in Manipur, the process for collection of biometrics of illegal immigrants from Myanmar has already begun since July 29.

The Mizoram government too is now preparing to collect biometric details of “illegal migrants” in a special drive across the state, which shares a 510-km long border with Myanmar.
