In a bid to ensure free and fair and corruption-free elections, the Enforcement Directorate has opened a Camp Office in Kohima to keep a close watch on any illegal use of cash and curb the use of money power ahead of the elections to be held in the state on February 27.
“The Enforcement Directorate, Government of India shall keep a close watch on money laundering activities for holding a free and fair election. It has opened a Camp Office in Kohima and these activities will be closely monitored from their Sub-Zonal Office at Guwahati,” an official statement said on Monday.
“If any instance of money laundering related to politically exposed persons, connected with political activities directly or indirectly, comes to light, co-ordinated action shall be taken so that money/ proceeds of crime connected with a scheduled offence does not get in political financing” the statement said.
