Mizoram: Contraband worth over Rs 3 cr recovered

A consignment of 10,000 Methamphetamine tablets were recovered from the possession of 4 drug peddlers. Recovery made at Chaltlang, Aizawl.

It was a big breakthrough, after the Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department has busted a drugs smuggling racket.

As per inputs, a consignment of 10,000 Methamphetamine tablets were recovered from the possession of 4 drug peddlers.

Acting on specific inputs, the joint team of Assam Rifles and the Excise and Narcotics department intercepted a car at Chaltlang and upon frisking the vehicle, recovered the huge quantity of contraband.

The market value of the recovered Methamphetamine tablets is estimated to be around Rs 3.33 crore in the international market.

It may be mentioned that in the largest drug haul ever, Assam Rifles troopers in a joint operation with Mizoram police had seized Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs. 167.86 crore near the India-Myanmar border on September 24.
