Mizoram govt decides to provide aid to Bangladeshi refugees

Mizoram cabinet in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Zoramthanga took the crucial decision on humanitarian grounds.
The Mizoram government has decided to extend all possible humanitarian assistance to almost 300 Bangladeshi refugees taking shelther in the Parva village near Simeinasora in Lawngtlai district. The Mizoram cabinet in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, also expressed sympathy towards the plight of the refugees.
It has been learnt that following the meeting Lawngtlai Deputy Commissioner Ashok Srivastava has been instructed to make all necessary arrangements for extending relief to the refugees who are mostly ethnic Mizos, sharing the same cultural identity.
A relief committee has also been formed to provide necessary relief to the refugees till the district administration swings into action.
Reports suggest that over 300 more refugees had been proceeding towards Mizoram from the jungles in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.
