The ZPM after the swearing in ceremony is all set to announce the top priorities of the government for the next 100 years.

ZPM chief Lalduhoma is definitely a happy man today after his party created history with a clean sweep in the Mizoram Assembly election.

This was ZPM’s second election after its maiden entry in the 2018 polls when it won 8 seats. The win this time must be much sweeter for Lalduhoma and his party ousted ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) after a decade (2013-23) in power.

Within minutes of winning Serchhip for a second time, Lalduhoma, the chief ministerial candidate of ZPM listed out his priorities. Farmers’ welfare, putting an end to corruption and job creation for the youth of the state tops the cop-turned-politician’s agenda and he is determined to work towards fulfilling these.

The ZPM chief said that despite the fact that his party will inherit the almost empty coffers of the exchequer from the outgoing MNF, ZPM will announce the top priorities of the government for the next 100 years.

The ZPM chief said, “As you know Mizoram is firstly in a financial crisis and the financial condition is very bad. That is what we are going to inherit from the outgoing government. Inspite of this we are going to honour our commitment, that is buying of 4 selected items – ginger, turmeric, chilly and broomstick. These 4 items have been identified and we have declared the minimum price. From right now we are going to make a process of buying these 4 items inspite of all the constraints that we are facing. This is our commitment to the people and we are going to honour it. This is our first priority, we are the friend of farmers and we have to give them the top priority.

After that there will be a consolidation in finance, financial reforms are very necessary. For that we are going to make a Resource Mobilization Team comprising the expert members. They will look after the austerity measures, disinvestment measures and manpower assessment and all that.
After that our main priority will be anti-corruption measures. For that we are going to give a general consent to the CBI as soon as possible. After swearing in we will announce our top priorities for the next 100 years.”

Asked when the ZPM will stake claim before the Governor to form the government, Lalduhoma said, “Probably by tomorrow or next day after tomorrow, I will meet the Governor and will tell him that I can form the government. For that we will be having a meeting with our elders council and going to form a ministry with them. It is not me alone who can form a government. Swearing will be within this month. I can’t fix the date right now”.

Making his intentions clear to wipe out corruption, Lalduhoma said, “The law will take its own course. I am not in favour of witch hunting but we will give everybody a grace period to repent whatever bad things they have done and we will start from now. I will expect everybody to be free from corruption.”
ZPM chief Lalduhoma won from the Serchipp constituency by defeating his nearest rival J. Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng of the MNF by 2982 votes. Lalduhoma polled 8314 votes while the MNF candidate could secure only 5332 votes. Congress’ R Vanlaltluanga was in the third spot with 4241 votes.
