Mizoram court convicts 2 officials in graft case

The Special Court for Prevention of Corruption Act in Aizawl district has convicted former Superintendent of Excise, Serchhip district Rongura and former Assistant Accounts Officer of Serchhip Treasury in graft case and remanded them to judicial custody till March 20, 2023 for sentence hearing. In this regard, the state government has issued compulsory retirement to Rongura in the same case of misappropriation. Special Judge H.T.C. Lalrinchhana, who sentenced the two officials said that their sentence would be pronounced on Monday in an open court. The duo was convicted for misappropriation of money to the tune of over Rs. 1.73 crore.
