Mizoram: 35 of 40 MLAs are crorepatis, including 23 MNF MLAs

With Mizoram bracing for assembly elections, the the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has released a list of MLAs in the state who are crorepatis. As per the ADR, all the MLAs of Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), Congress and BJP are crorepatis.

This is 35 of the total 40 MLAs. 23 of the 27 (85%) legislators belonging to the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) have declared assets worth over Rs 1 crore.

MNF leader and Sports minister in the Zoramthanga cabinet, Robert Romawia Royte is the richest MLA with a net worth of Rs 44.75 crore.

Romawia is followed by Ramthanmawia, also of the MNF, who has a declared net worth of nearly Rs 17 crore. In the 3rd position is Lalchhuanthanga of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), he has declared assets worth Rs 13 crore.
The MLA with the lowest net worth is TJ Lalnuntluanga of the MNF, at Rs 43.6 lakh.

The list of top 10 MLAs with highest assets are-

Lalchhuanthanga- ZPM- Rs 12.94 crore
Lalrindika Ralte-Congress- Rs 11.98 crore
C Ngunlianchunga-Congress- Rs 8 crore
R. Lalzirliana-MNF- Rs 7.52 crore
R Lalthangliana-MNF- Rs 7.49 crore
Zr. Thiamsanga-MNF- Rs 6.86 crore
K Laldawngliana-MNF-Rs 5.51 crore
Lawmawma Tochhawng-MNF- Rs 4.75 crore

In terms of educational qualification, one MLA is 5th pass, two are class 8 pass, 2 are 10th pass, 4 are 12th pass. 11 MLAs are graduates, 8 are post graduates, 5 are graduate professionals, 5 have a Doctorate and one is a Diploma holder.
