Will the Centre move ahead in granting ILP to Meghalaya? ILP demand in the state has its own importance, says Kiren Rijiju.

Union Law and Justice minister Kiren Rijiju today commented on the implementation of the Inner Line Permit or ILP in the state. The union minister said that issues of each state is quite different from one another. Rijiju maintained that the demand for ILP in Meghalaya, has its own importance and relevance.

However, to decide on the future course of action regarding implementation of ILP in the state, requires deliberations and consultations, Rijiju said.

Rijiju also termed that the Citizenship Amendment Act or the CAA is good for the country. When asked if the contentious Act would be rolled back, Rijiju said because of COVID pandemic there have been several issues and that the Home Ministry was dealing with the matter.

Speaking on the BJP’s prospects for the 2023 assembly elections in Meghalaya, Kiren Rijiju said, “Meghalaya is a very vibrant state & MDA has to have a major role in the governance otherwise it will be unfortunate for the people.

The union minister further said, “I have seen wherever BJP is in power or where BJP has a larger role in the government the benefits to the people are more. BJP has one sole agenda of working for the people, we work in a Mission Mode. We have no time or energy for ourself. We dedicate everything for the people so Meghalaya deserves more MLAs from BJP party.

Rijiju added that, “the Conrad Sangma government is doing good things, but these good things can be given a more push if BJP comes to bigger role in the government.”
