Meghalaya TMC leader Mukul Sangma reacting to exit poll predictions said that although the exit poll predictions indicate a fractured result, one has to wait to know what really is the mandate of the people.
“We expected a mandate which would be more decisive but as per inputs from ground zero, maybe it’s going to be the repeat of the presiding elections. It is important to see as to how we respect the mandate of the people and accordingly decide the future course of action,” Mukul Sangma said.
Speaking on TMC’s poll predictions, Mukul Sangma exuded confidence that TMC will be getting close to 20 seats.
Meanwhile, Mukul Sangma slammed the NPP saying the NPP will just about cross the single digit with great difficulty.
The TMC leader also termed the NPP as the chief patrons of corruption and said that NPP’s leadership will break for the alleged irregularities and corruption in the last five years.
“NPP will break because the leadership has been alleged of being the chief patrons of the huge irregularities and huge alleged corruption that has taken place in the last 5 years. Keeping in mind the allegation of innumerable numbers of alleged corruption in the last 5 years, it’s time for all concerned to demand Investigation and ensure that the law takes its own course in order to protect the interest of the state” Mukul Sangma said.
Lastly, reacting to parleys between the NPP and BJP, the TMC leader said, “That’s nothing unexpected. This will always be there, but most important thing is to understand with complete clarity whether the mandate of the people will be respected or not. In a democracy, it’s very important to respect the mandate of the people in the true spirit of democracy and that’s what we expect to see.”
Mukul Sangma also lashed out at the BJP saying the saffron party tagged Meghalaya with the infamous tag of being the number 1 corrupt state in the country. He asked whether the people are corrupt or the people in authority.
Lastly reacting to the post-poll alliance, the TMC leader said, “Please allow me to keep the cards close to my chest.”
