Kynta said that since joining BJP in November 2022, he has not been given any responsibility in the party

Senior advocate VGK Kynta today resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya.

VGK Kynta cited ‘not been given any responsibility’ as the reason for quitting the party. Something that the 4 Manipur BJP MLAs also said when they resigned from their official posts recently. The MLAs continue to be with the BJP.

Talking to the media, he said that since joining the BJP in November 2022, he has not been given any responsibility in the party.

He said, “I am a very tribal-centric person. Perhaps my blunt and upfront style of speaking maybe not be in tune with the leaders of the BJP here in the state. I am one person who does not speak from behind, I love to speak right in front.”

In his resignation letter to Meghalaya BJP President Ernest Mawrie, Kynta said that he joined BJP with the hope and aspiration to do something for Meghalaya and the people of the state, however, he was not assigned any such responsibility.

Kynta said that he used to regularly check in with Ernest Mawrie about his responsibilities, but said that he has not yet received any response.
