Paul Lyngdoh denied any speculation about few UDP MLAs looking to merge with the NPP along the lines of PDF
President of United Democratic Party (UDP) and minister in NPP’s Conrad Sangma-led government in Meghalaya, Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday debunked all theories of the UDP sitting in the opposition post-Sohiong polls.
He said that the elected representatives are chosen to deliver based on the mandate of the people, and the people gave a fractured mandate, with the National People’s Party (NPP) getting just 8 out of 36 seats in the Khasi Jaintia sector and the UDP getting 0 seats in the Garo Hills sector.
When asked if the NPP had approached the UDP MLAs about merging with them, Lyngdoh said, “Even the UDP can approach the NPP and tell them to merge with the UDP. What is wrong with that?”
Furthermore, Paul Lyngdoh denied any speculation about few UDP MLAs looking to merge with the NPP along the lines of PDF.
“I do not pay heed to rumours, I believe in spending time listening to good music,” Paul Lyngdoh reiterated.
The minister exuded confidence that the UDP would win the Sohiong seat.
