Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that she is taking on board all the legislators of the state as the MLAs are the keys to the success of any intervention

Meghalaya government will soon come up with a five-year road map for health and agriculture, Minister in charge of health and agriculture, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh informed Northeast Live.

The Minister added that she is taking on board all the legislators of the state as the MLAs are the keys to the success of any intervention.

“MLAs are the keys to the success of any intervention. MLAs will be the best monitors of all our facilities. MLAs should be informed from time to time about the progress and work done in their respective health centers,” Lyngdoh said.

Irrespective of political patronage, the legislators of Meghalaya are working towards making the health care sector better, Lyngdoh added.

Informing that there are shortages of health centers, or dispensaries, which are smaller versions of PHCs in the state, the minister said the state government is introducing sub-divisional hospitals in the state.

“A pregnant woman from Ranikor shouldn’t come all the way to Shillong for a medical treatment that is vital for the safe birth of the mother,” Lyngdoh noted.

Lyngdoh also informed that the health centers will now be managed by communities, which is unique to the state.

Giving the example of COVID 19, she informed that it was the community leaders who helped in containing the disease by putting in place various preventive measures.

The minister also shared that she had almost completed her tour in the state, and is only left to cover the Ri-Bhoi district which she will start from today.

It may be mentioned that Ampareen Lyngdoh was on a tour of the entire state of Meghalaya to have a ground knowledge and understand the difficulties and challenges faced by the people of the state.

Lyngdoh shared that she had received a very keen response during her tour.
