Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Meghalaya Chief Minister thanked the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for expanding the Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure to 1 Lakh Crore.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also sought her intervention to enhance the central allocation of funds to Meghalaya for the financial year 22-23 for undertaking several infrastructure projects.

Besides, CM Sangma also called on the Union home secretary and other top officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday and briefed them about the communication by the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), which is willing to join the peace process. Sangma also briefed the MHA about the proscribed group’s decision to join the mainstream without any preconditions.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma termed his meeting with the MHA as very positive and said that more developments will take place in the next few days.
