Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has informed that a meeting will be held with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the inter-state boundary issue with Assam.
Chief Minister Sangma informed that the all crucial meeting is slated to be held around 4.30 pm on March 27th.
Meanwhile, speaking on the concerns of some people in certain areas of dispute, the Meghalaya CM reiterated that a public mandate was taken before taking a final call. Talking specifically on Malchapara in West Khasi Hills, CM Sangma said during the public hearing majority of the people had opted to go with Assam, and hence the decision was taken to merge the area with Assam. CM Sangma said that it was not possible to apply different yardsticks for different areas.
Reacting to concerns raised by certain MDCs and Himas, CM Sangma maintained that all issues were discussed with traditional heads multiple times. Sangma maintained that nothing was hidden and things were made clear from the very beginning.
