Bigger phase of peace talks between central govt and HNLC to conclude this year: HNLC

Will the center achieve a breakthrough in the ongoing peace talks with the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council, or HNLC, this year?

Well, if the latest statement by HNLC interlocutor Sadon K. Blah is anything to go by, then a substantial portion of the peace talks may conclude in 2023.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Blah said the “bigger phase of peace talks between the central government and the HNLC will conclude this year.”

He also informed that the government is working on the Amnesty demand of the proscribed outfit.

“Regarding the amnesty that was demanded in the last press statement that I had given after the official meeting with the home ministry, from both the government they are working over it,” Sadon K Blah said.

HNLC began tripartite peace talks with the state government and central government in June 2022.
Around 6–7 rounds of meetings were held both officially and unofficially by the HNLC.
