Meghalaya: Chartered plane to bring back students from Manipur

Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi confirmed the development and said that the Meghalaya police is in close touch with the Manipur Police to ensure the safety of the students.

A special chartered plane will bring back students from Meghalaya who are studying in different educational institutes in Manipur. Briefing newspersons, Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi confirmed the development and said that the Meghalaya police is in close touch with the Manipur Police to ensure the safety of the students.

DGP Bishnoi said,”These students are safe. We are in regular touch with the senior officers of Manipur. Today itself I have spoken to the DGP Manipur and they have assured to provide full safety to the citizens. Today 1 chartered plane is going to Imphal to bring back students of Meghalaya.”

The Meghalaya DGP further said that the government has so far recieved a list of 61 students from Meghalaya studing in Manipur. DGP Bishnoi said,”We have got list of 61 students who are studying in agriculture, food technology institutes and some of them studying in RIMS also, And if necessary in the second lot also, the Honourable CM has assured that they will be brought back till the situation settles down there and it normalizes. I am sure that as spoken with DGP lot of forces have reached there and withing a couple of days the situation will become normal.”

“We have spoken with the Assam Rifles officials also and Manipur government. They have assured to provide security, till they (students) depart from Imphal and I dont visualize any serious problem,” the Meghalaya DGP added.
