The advance team of security personnel on its way to Jiribam to receive CM N Biren Singh was ambushed Monday morning seriously injuring a civilian driver

The Congress in Manipur has squarely blamed the N Biren Singh government for yesterday’s attack on the Chief Minister’s advance convoy. Former Manipur CM and veteran Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh said that proper precaution should have been taken before sending the convoy.

Briefing newspersons in Imphal, the former Chief Minister said, “That is unfortunate. It may happen anywhere and at any time, but the government should take full precaution. Without any information why they are sending. Of course during our time also advance parties or advance convoys always proceed before, but prior information is required before they proceed. This is total failure from the government side. Those who attacked the advance security convoy are worth condemnable.”

It may be mentioned that an advance vehicle party on its way to Jiribam to receive Chief Minister N Biren Singh was ambushed Monday morning along the Imphal-Jiribam road.

As per reports, at least 1 civilian driver sustained critical injuries in the attack.

The convoy with security men were fired upon using automatic weapons and the incident took place between Kotlen and Noney, top security officials said.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh thereafter assured strong action against the perpetrators and had said that such an attack on the CM is a direct attack on the people.
