Blast in Imphal, another IED defused

A sense of panic grips Manipur's Imphal East after a suspected bomb blast followed by the recovery of an IED in less than 12 hours.
Panic gripped Manipur’s Imphal city after a blast occurred in Imphal East and another IED was diffused.
The blast occured at the gate of a fish godown in Khongma Zone 1 (Mangjil). However, no casualty was reported in the the blast that took place last night at around 11 PM.
The fish godown was owned by Aribam Sashikumar Sharma alias Bung, 50 son of Late A. Chitreshwor Sharma.
As per inputs, the bomb was planted above a drain constructed for the fish godown.
Meanwhile, in another incident security forces averted a major tragedy by safely defusing an IED planted at the Telepati residential area in Imphal East.
The suspected IED which was planted at a godown owned by Ramnath Sahu was first noticed by a cleaning worker at around 6 AM this morning. Meanwhile, alert locals of Telepati immediately informed the Porompat police station abou the matter. Subsequently, the Bomb Squad safely defused the bomb at 9:50 am and took it to a secluded area of Awaching in the outskirts of Imphal east and detonated.
On the other hand, the Imphal-Ukhrul state highway which passes by Telepati was blocked for around 4 hours as an immediate safety measure by the police.
