MST bus services from Mao to Dimapur launched

The focus of the bus service was translated as helping the people of Mao and adjacent villages who would need its services to travel down to Dimapur
Good news for the people of Mao. A Manipur State Transport bus service has been launched between Mao and Dimapur via Peren. The service was flagged off by Mao MLA L Dikho. The bus service would ease the travel woes of the public. It would cut down on travel expenses and also ensure a more comfortable and safe travel for the people of Mao and Dimapur.
Dr. Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Director of Transport, Government of Manipur, stated that the MST service was added to the new route to reduce the cost of hiring a private taxi to travel to Dimapur. Seeing the hardships that the common people have been facing with skyrocketing fares, the service was introduced in the interest of the public, she mentioned.
Speaking as the chief guest on the ocassion, MLA L. Dikho expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the concerned transport minister for the state government’s concern for the people of the region at a time when such facilities are most needed.
Joint Director of Transport in her speech mentioned that Manipur State Transport was proposed under in 2017. The Transport Department has so far launched 24 MST bus services on different routes.
The Joint director of transport also sought the cooperation of the people of the region to make the service more fruitful by availing of it. The fare set by the government is said to be heavily subsidised.
While the MST bus service from Mao to Imphal is already in operation, the frequency of operations had to be reduced due to a lack of passengers, she explained. She also mentioned that the department is trying to procure a more comfortable or semi-luxury bus very soon.
The bus service would be available from Mao to Dimapur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 a.m. and from Dimapur to Mao on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from Manipur Parking, Dimapur.
The department had recently launched MST bus service between Imphal and Tamphung village in Senapati district, which is the last border village adjacent to Peren district in Nagaland. The bus service is stated to operate from Imphal to the state border village via Maram and Bendramai in Senapati district.
