Even after five days of the gruesome killing of Seigunlal Misao, the 17-year-old Class 12 student from Kangpokpi near his house, the Manipur government is yet to nab any of the culprits involved in shoot out that left the teenager dead.

Upset about the state of affairs and the state government’s inability to catch the culprits, the Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed to ensure justice for the murdered teenager, who was the only child of his ailing parents, has decided to launch a peaceful sit-in-protest on Friday, March 31 (tomorrow) in the district of Kangpokpi.

The decision, according to the JAC, comes in the backdrop of the state Government’s failure to nab the culprits within three days as assured by the state Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

Students from various private educational institutions will take part in the peaceful sit-in-protest which will be held at Motbung, Saparmeina, Keithelmanbi, and Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

Speaking exclusively to the North East Live, Kamchon Kipgen, a member of the JAC said, “The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh had assured us to nab the culprits involved in the brutal murder of Seigunlal Misao within three days but till now despite the NRFM openly claiming responsibility over the merciless killing no arrest was made even after almost a week. Therefore, the JAC has decided to launch a peaceful sit-in-protest to show our discontentment and also demand the early arrest of the culprits from March 31, 2023, in collaboration with all the educational institutions of the district”.

The sit-in-protest will kick off from Motbung Model village and will be simultaneously carried out area-wise in the entire district.

He also said that even after the peaceful sit-in-protest, if the state Government still failed to nab the culprits then the JAC along with various civil society organizations will decide further course of action.
While responding to a query about claiming the body of the slain juvenile, the JAC member said that there is no question of claiming the dead body as of now.
