Manipur Police Seizes 2 kg Brown Sugar from Ukhrul District

In another major breakthrough in its fight against drugs, the Manipur Police today seized almost 2 kg of brown sugar from Lancha village of Ukhrul district in Manipur.

The drugs were found inside a gunny bag that was hidden amongst the bushes of the forest in Lancha village area.

Upon inspection, it was found that the gunny bag contained 15 boxes, each of which contained 11 suspected soap cases of brown sugar. There were total 165 soap boxes.

So far Manipur Police seized a total of 5.448 kilograms of illegal drugs. Earlier, one person was arrested in connection with the case.

Police made the seizures based on information from arrested persons and tip-offs from people in the know-how of such activities.

The seizure was done in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Singngat in accordance with all procedures.

The police team was led by Inspector Thangpu Tonsing, Officer-in-Charge, SI Chinzasiam and ASI Hauliankhup of Singngat Police Station.

Further investigation is on to nab all those involved in this case.
