Manipur LS Polls: Nagaland CM Rio and DY CM Zeliang sprearhead campaign for NPF’s Outer Manipur candidate Timothy Zimik

BJP did not field a candidate for Outer Manipur and extended support to Zimik.
The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) organised a mega campaign rally in Manipur’s Senapati district on Saturday for its candidate from Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat K Timothy Zimik.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang were present to campaign for K Timothy Zimik at Maram bazaar in Senapati.
President, NPF Manipur state and Minister, Awangbow Newmai was also present at the rally.
K Timothy Zimik is a retired Indian Revenue Service officer who is contesting the MP elections for the first time. NPF dropped its sitting Lok Sabha MP Lorho S Pfoze and fielded K Timothy Zimik.
BJP did not field a candidate for Outer Manipur and is extending support to Zimik.
The Congress has fielded former MLA of Ukhrul Alfred K Arthur.
There are two independent candidates – Alyson Abonmei and S Kho John in the battle for Outer Manipur.
It is to be mentioned here that polling for the 15 Assembly constituencies of Outer Manipur was held on April 19, in the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Voting for the remaining 13 Assembly constituencies of Outer Manipur will be held in the second phase of polling on April 26.
NPF’s Lorho S. Pfoze won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. He polled 3,63,527 votes. BJP candidate H Shokhopao Mate (Benjamin) polled 2,89,745 votes, while Congress candidate K James polled 1,52,510 votes.
