Manipur DGP maintained that the police force has been put on alert to deal with any kind of eventualities

Manipur DGP P Doungel today said that the police force is on full alert especially in the backdrop of the N Biren Singh government deciding to revoke the Suspension of Operations (SoO) with the KNA and the ZRA.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, DGP P Doungel said that it was the prerogative of the the government to withdraw the Suspension of Operations (SoO) and the police will ensure there is no disruption in law and order situation. Doungel affirmed,”We standby with whatever decision the government has taken, since we are part of the government.”

The Manipur DGP added that the police will do ground level study in view of the prevailing circumstances. DGP Doungel said,”Yes, we’ll do ground level study but we don’t think there will be an immediate change in law and order situation of the state once the revocation comes into effect.”

However, the Manipur DGP maintained that the police force has been put on alert to deal with any kind of eventualities. In this context, DGP P Doungel said,”At the same time we also understand, since they have been taken out of the SoO by the government, we have to be careful and we have to deal with them like people who are outlaws.”

Meanwhile, DGP Doungel in a clear message stated that the entire police force will do their best as per the decision taken by the government of Manipur.

It may be mentioned that the Manipur Government has sent it’s recommendation for revoking the Suspension of Operations agreement with the ZRA and the KNA to the Centre for ratification, highly placed sources told Northeast Live.

The decision to revoke the truce with the two Kuki rebel groups was taken by the Manipur Cabinet on Friday after a protest rally against the government’s decision to evict alleged encroachers from forest land turned violent in some hill areas.
