Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has welcomed the pledge taken by All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), in the war against drugs.

Taking to Twitter, the Manipur CM said “I wholeheartedly welcome and appreciate the All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) for taking a collective pledge to join the fight against drug menace and poppy cultivation in the state in support of the state government’s War on Drugs campaign.”

“With the Church authorities joining hands to work at the grassroots level in the larger interest of the future of Manipur, I am confident that the state will soon be completely free of drugs.” CM N Biren Singh added.

The churches and the Christians of Manipur at large, under the aegis of the All Manipur Christian Organisation ( AMCO), have collectively resolved and made a declaration to fight against the drug menace and poppy cultivation in the state.

The churches, under the aegis of AMCO, made a collective pledge based on Christian faith, Biblical ethics, and values to extend unstinted support to the government of Manipur, organisations, churches, and individuals who relentlessly work for the eradication of abuse of psychotropic substances and poppy cultivation in our state.

The organisation further appealed to the Central and State Governments to formulate a comprehensive and concrete socioeconomic policy based on rationality, sustainability, inclusivity, and freedom from prejudice for a progressive and harmonious society and state free from abuse of psychotropic substances.
