Manipur CM inspects state’s first ropeway project at Marjing Hill

The ropeway will provide better connectivity at the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex and will make the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex a tourist hotspot
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inspected the ropeway project at Marjing Hill in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Thursday.
This will be the first ropeway in Manipur that will connect the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex with the Marjing foothill.
The ropeway will provide better connectivity at the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex and will make the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex a tourist hotspot.
Sharing pictures from the visit, CM N Biren Singh wrote, “Inspected the site of the first ropeway project in Manipur at Marjing Hill. It will connect the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex with the Marjing foothill. The ropeway will provide better connectivity at the Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex and also help in making the site a tourist hotspot.”
“The project aims to further enhance eco-tourism in the state,” N Biren Singh added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the ropeway project at Ibudhou Marjing on January 4, last year.
The northeastern states of Assam and Sikkim already have ropeways. Meghalaya’s capital city, Shillong, will soon get a ropeway too.
Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh announced on Wednesday that the tender for the Shillong ropeway project will be floated in May and that work on the project is likely to commence by November this year.
The Meghalaya Cabinet last year approved the first passenger ropeway project in the state from Lawsohtun to Shillong Peak at a cost of Rs 138 crore.
The ropeway project at Ibudhou Marjing is expected to boost the tourism sector and connectivity in the state, as transport network is a big challenge in the region.
