To prevent any further escalation, the Army and Manipur Police are jointly conducting operation

A fresh incident of firing has been reported from the bordering areas between Manipur’s Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts. Sources said that one person died in the overnight firing incident.

Indiscriminate firing was also heard from Phayeng and Singda villages near Kangchup in Imphal West bordering Kangpokpi last night.

Assam Rifles swung into action following which the firing stopped.

However, intermittent firing was reported again this morning from the Singda village.
