Assam cop Anand Mishra serving as SP Lakhimpur, has been transferred and given charge of SITs constituted for Manipur incidents with immediate effect. Along with him SP Randeep Baruah has also been given charge of the SITs constituted for Manipur incidents with immediate effect.

The transfer is in compliance with directions from the Supreme Court.
At least 6,523 FIRs were registered from May to July in Manipur since violence erupted following which the state government said that it will constitute 42 SITs to investigate the cases.
