The Congress which has been nearly decimated in the state winning only 5 of the total 60 seats has accused the entire election machinery of backing the BJP.

Congress’ Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das today termed the mandate in Manipur as a farce. The Congress leader alleged that everything from the EVM to the state administration and police were managed and made to favour the BJP candidates.

Bhakta Charan Das, however, added that the party respects the verdict of the people of Manipur.

Meanwhile, its not just Congress but the NPP too is crying foul over the outcome of the Assembly polls in Manipur. Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and senior NPP leader Prestone Tynsong alleged that threats by militant groups affected the prospects of the party.

Tynsong, however, pointed out that the party’s support base has increased manifold in Manipur and the same is apparent from the fact that in close to 18 seats the party lost by less than 5000 votes.

The senior NPP leader also pointed out that the increase in seats from 4 to 7 indicated that the party has grown nearly 100% in Manipur.
