CM N Biren Singh has asked all those who have abused power, manipulated and fabricated facts for illegal allotment and mutation, to confess and surrender or face legal consequences
Continuing its crackdown on corruption and corrupt practices, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Friday that two government officials (MCS officers) and a resident doctor at JNIMS have been suspended for adopting corrupt practices in some land dealings.
Speaking to media persons today at CM Secretariat, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, “As a part of the drive against the corrupted government officials, the investigating officers found some of the MCS officers and SDC of misusing their powers in the land revenue mutations and others, therefore the state government has suspended two MCS officers and the SDC for misusing their power and Manipulating the land records.”
Interestingly, the duo was pretending to be sick to evade arrest. Eventually, the conniving doctor identified as Dr. O. Budhacharan, a senior resident of JNIMS, has also been suspended by the government.
The Chief Minister said that his government is cracking the whip against any fake and illegal allotment of land and there is a massive crackdown that is going on.
Fuming over the failure of government officials to run the administration efficiently and transparently, the CM sent out a strong and clear message when he said that all those who have committed such misuse of power, manipulation and fabrication for illegal allotment and mutation of land to come forward and confess or face legal action.
Regarding illegal land allotment order was issued even inside reserved forest areas thereby causing difficulties in governance, the Chief Minister said that many people in the hill region of the state claim that the reserve forest and the protective forest belong to village communities which is not true but some officials particularly from the forest and the revenue department issued pattas and allotment orders recognising the villages inside the reserve forest and the protected forest causing difficulties in governance. Therefore, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state particularly the bureaucrat officers to streamline their duty so that no such stringent actions are required in future.
