Major Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha awarded Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal for the second time

Major General Rajesh Kumar Jha who is presently serving as Director (Personnel), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), Shillong, has been awarded the Bar to Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal (AVSM) (awarded AVSM for the second time) for his distinguished service of exceptional order.
He was conferred the honour on January 26, Republic Day, by President Droupadi Murmu.
General Jha was awarded the first AVSM by the then President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in 2021 when Gen Jha was serving with India’s Strategic Forces Command.
He has dedicated both his awards to his dream team of soldiers, Junior Commanding Officers (JCOs) and officers who worked tirelessly to achieve the organisational goals, an official statement said.
The General was born on November 22, 1965 and started his journey in the armed forces on December 14, 1985. Other than the AVSM awards, he has also been conferred eight commendation cards by the Chief of Army Staff and a citation from the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
What is AVSM?
AVSM is the military award of India given to recognize “distinguished service of an exceptional order” to all ranks of the armed forces.
What is Bar of AVSM?
When someone is subsequently awarded the medal again, every such further award is recognised by a Bar to be attached to the riband by which the medal is suspended.
