Guwahati woman kills husband, mother-in-law, stores chopped bodies in fridge

It has been alleged that the woman identified as Vandana Kalita, along with her lover (Dhanjit Deka) brutally murdered their mother-in-law Shankari De and husband Amarjyoti De in Guwahati's Noonmati

A shocking case of murder has come to light from Guwahati which brings back memories of the now infamous Shraddha Walkar murder case in Delhi.

As per inputs, in a spine-chilling murder in Guwahati, a woman allegedly killed her husband and mother-in-law, chopped off their bodies, and stored the dismembered bodies in a refrigerator for three days before disposing of the bodies at an unidentified place close to Dawki in Meghalaya.

The entire incident has come to light on February 17, 2023, seven months after the crime was committed on August 22, 2022.

It has been alleged that the woman identified as Vandana Kalita, along with her lover (Dhanjit Deka) brutally murdered her husband Amarjyoti De and mother-in-law Shankari De in Guwahati’s Noonmati, chopped off their bodies, and then stored the dismembered bodies in a refrigerator for three days. On the fourth day, they dumped their dismembered bodies at an undisclosed location close to Meghalaya’s Dawki and filed a missing complaint at the Noonmati Police Station.

A few months later, after police were unable to find out any information about Amarjyoti and his mother, Vandana Kalita filed another complaint accusing Amarjyoti’s uncle of collecting all the money they received from their tenants in as many as 5 buildings located across the city.

Following the complaint, the police started an investigation. During the inquiry, they found a clue regarding the missing Amarjyoti and his mother. Based on this finding, the police detained Vandana on February 17 and during questioning, Vandana admitted to the crime. Police alter arrested Vandana.

During the interogation, Vandana revealed that the motive behind the murders is her extramarital affair and acquisition of property.

Based on her confession, police detained her lover Dhanjit Deka and another person named Arup Deka who helped Vandana kill her mother-in-law.
