Bye-elections for Sohiong seat in Meghalaya on May 10: EC

Polling for the Sohiong seat scheduled to be held on February 27, 2023, was adjourned following the demise of UDP candidate H Donkupar Roy Lyngdoh
Bye-elections for 23 Sohiong Assembly Constituency in Meghalaya will be held on May 10, 2023, announced the Election Commission of India today.
It may be mentioned here that, polling for the Sohiong seat under East Khasi Hills district scheduled to be held on February 27, 2023, was adjourned following the demise of former state Home Minister and United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate H Donkupar Roy Lyngdoh.
H D R Lyngdoh died of cardiac arrest on February 20.
Lyngdoh had previously represented the constituency in East Khasi Hills from 1988 to 1998.
ECI has also announced byelections for Jalandhar (Punjab), Jharsuguda (Odisha), Chhanbey (Uttar Pradesh), Suar (Uttar Pradesh) on May 10.
The counting of votes for all bye-elections will be held on May 13, 2023.
