BSF Meghalaya Apprehended Bangladeshi National In West Garo Hills Border

The apprehended individual was handed over to Police Station Dalu for further investigation
Meghalaya Border Security Force (BSF) troops apprehended one Bangladeshi national near the International border of West Garo Hills district while attempting to illegally enter India on October 10.
Acting on specific intelligence, personnel from the 100th Battalion BSF Meghalaya intercepted the individual while attempting to illegally infiltrate into Indian territory. The man has been identified as Md Rabibul Islam Robin, a resident of Sherpur district in Bangladesh.
The apprehended individual was handed over to Police Station Dalu for further investigation.
Earlier on October 3, 17 Bangladeshi nationals including 2 women were arrested in South West Garo Hills after entering India through Hallidayganj.
During interrogation, the infiltrators revealed that they were supposed to travel to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and had entered India with the help of middlemen.
The Meghalaya police have ramped up efforts to combat illegal immigration, particularly in the Garo Hills region, where the influx has surged alarmingly. Notably, Meghalaya Police apprehended 31 Bangladeshi infiltrators within just three days.
