Woman Protestor ‘Slapped’ By Female Cop Outside Assam Secretariat, Police Initiates Inquiry

Assam police has initiated a one-woman inquiry to look into a news item, wherein it has been reported that an on-duty woman police personnel allegedly slapped a woman protestor outside the Dispur capital complex when the ongoing autumn session of the assembly was in progress.

In a notification, the Assam police stated that the inquiry has been ordered to look into the genuineness of the news item and, if it is genuine, then find out the facts and the circumstances leading to the incident.

DCP East Moitrayee Deka has been entrusted to head the inquiry and submit the findings at the earliest.

It may be mentioned here that the video of the alleged slapping of the woman has gone viral, leading to the inquiry.
