A woman was allegedly gang-raped by a group of 9 men and left by the roadside in Assam’s Hajo yesterday.
As per inputs, the victim was allegedly drugged and raped by a group of 9 men while she was on her way to Dhemaji from Guwahati’s Khanapara.
It is learnt that a person named Altaf, who is known to the victim, was taking her in his rented car. During their journey, the woman was given drinking water mixed with intoxicating substances near Jalukbari and later taken to Hajo’s Topabori area after she fell unconscious.
Subsequently, she was gang-raped gang and left by the roadside.
Later, a team of police officers rushed to the scene on receiving information about the incident from locals.
Meanwhile, the police have successfully arrested five accused so far.
The arrested individuals have been identified as–Abdul Hamid, Imran Hussain, Abdul Jalil, Afizuddin, and Saidul Rahman.
A manhunt is underway to nab the other perpetrators.
