Two women were injured in an attack by a leopard at Moran in Assam’s Dibrugarh district yesterday afternoon.
The injured women have been identified as 26-year-old Ashrita Kuju and 25-year-old Anita Tirkey.
Both the injured women are labourers at the Khowang tea estate in Moran.
The duo were attacked by a leopard while picking up leaves in the nursery of the tea estate.
They have been admitted at the tea estate hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
It may be mentioned that this is not the first instance that individuals have been injured in a leopard attack in the Khowang area which is within the jurisdiction of the Khowang Regional Forest Office.
Several instances of leopard attacks on humans have been reported in the area in the past.
