The Assam Engineering College (AEC) authorities have suspended the warden of hostel number 7 after seven students of the institute died in a tragic road accident on Sunday.
The hostel warden, Shashank Sharma, who was also the assistant professor, has been suspended due to his negligence on duty. Shashank Sharma was the assistant professor in the electronics department.
In a tragic road accident reported from Jalukbari near Guwahati, seven students from Assam Engineering College were killed on the spot and six were grievously injured on Sunday after a SUV carrying the students lost control and collided with a pickup van.
The deceased, all in their third semester, were identified as Rajkiran Bhuyan from Kamalabari in Majuli, Emon Gayan from Dibrugarh, Kaushik Mohan from Sibsagar, Upangshu Sharma from Nagaon, Kaushik Baruah from Jyotinagar in Mangaldai, Arindam Bhallal, and Niyor Deka, both from Guwahati.
