Minister Pijush Hazarika was inspecting the embankment work at the Shiv Bari Road area which he visited along with Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty.
It may be mentioned here that the project worth crores was scheduled to be completed within four months. However, it remains incomplete after a year and a half.
As such, Hazarika has given an ultimatum to the contractor to complete the work within the next 15 days or have his license cancelled.
Hazarika could be seen checking the progress of the work and even reprimanding the contractor and local officials for the slow progress of the work.
The contractor said that he had got very little time to meet the deadline. However, he assured Minister Hazarika that the work would now pick a pace and be completed in time.
