Olympia Traditional Sports Museum at Guwahati

Mastermind of the project, Chiranjeev Sharma delightfully stated that the project has been a dream to him for over a decade.

Northeast’s first traditional sports museum was inaugurated on Thursday by Member Secretary of the member-secretary of the State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare in Assam, Gitartha Goswami.

The Olympia Traditional Sports Museum is located at Rajgarh in Guwahati.

The museum which is an initiative of the Sports and Cultural Study Centre, aims to preserve and promote all the traditional games and sports of Assam and the Northeast to the world, besides acting as a hub of knowledge about all indigenous and traditional sports.

While speaking on the occasion, Goswami hailed the development as a revolutionary step and lauded Chiranjeev Sharma for his initiative in setting up the museum. He also assured all possible help from the state government.

Mastermind of the project, Chiranjeev Sharma delightfully stated that the project has been a dream to him for over a decade.

He stated that over 600 traditional sports materials have been compiled and made accessible for those interested to study in this field.

The museum houses books and other materials written by eminent personalities associated with sports in Assam.
