Nazrul Islam has been accused of collecting money through extortion
Months after a person posing as fake DC in Tezpur, Assam, was arrested, another person posing to be the district commissioner (DC) of Kamrup Metro has been reported from Kalgachia in Assam’s Barpeta district.
Nazrul Islam, coordinator of the Cluster Resource Center (CRC), has been accused of collecting money through extortion.
As per inputs, Nazrul introduced a person posing as the DC of Kamrup Metro and threatened the teachers of Manikpur LP School, Barpeta, for not providing mid-day meals to the students, and demanded a huge sum of money from them.
He even threatened to send the teacher to jail through the Chief Minister’s special vigilance cell if their demands are not met.
Nazrul collected Rs 50,000 from two teachers identified as Phoolmani Modahi and Ruksana Ahmed through Phone Pay.
“Nazrul called me at 11.30 pm and connected me to Kamrup Metro DC through a conference call. The DC said that a complaint has been launched against us for not providing mid-day meals on Saturdays. He started threatening and pressuring me,” one of the teachers said.
The aggrieved teachers have registered a case against Nazrul Islam and the fake DC at Kalgachia police station.
