Assam sprinter Hima Das to miss upcoming Asian Games due to hamstring injury

Assam boxer Hima Das also known as ‘Dhing Express’ will not be able to participate in the upcoming Asian Games due to a hamstring injury, confirmed chief coach of Indian athletics, Radhakrishnan Nair.
The Asian Games which were postponed from last year is scheduled to be held in China’s Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
“The 23-year-old athlete was injured a day before the Indian Grand Prix IV in Bengaluru on April 15. She pulled a hamstring and also had a back problem. She is currently undergoing a medical investigation. I believe that she will not be able to participate in the Asian Games as per the policy of the AFI,” Nair said.
Hima Das previously missed the Federation Cup in Ranchi last month due to an injury.
Earlie, at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Hima Das had won a silver medal in the 400m individual event.
Hima Das was also part of the gold and silver-winning women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x400m relay teams in Jakarta.
