Guwahati airport to handle additional flights this summer, intl flight between Guwahati-Paro from May

5 new destinations - Bhubeneswar, Goa MOPA, Dehradun, Jodhpur and Coimbatore added
The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati had announced a mega expansion plan in flight operations. The airport would handle more additional flights weekly for the summer schedule which begins on March 26 and ends on the last Sunday of October, an official statement from LGBIA Airport said.
“If everything goes as planned, the number of daily flights from the airport will increase from 63 to 72 during the period”, the statement said.
New destinations –
Bhubeneswar, Goa MOPA, Dehradun, Jodhpur and Coimbatore are also being added.
Further, several routes will find additional flights via Bhubeneswar, Chennai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai.
Sharing data of increased traffic and passenger movement from the Guwahati airport, the official statement said, “After the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Guwahati airport has witnessed a sharp rise in terms of air traffic movement and passengers. The top three airlines has forcasted with the highest weekly operations during the summer schedule are Indigo (203 flights), Airasia (77 flights) and Flybig (48).”
Bhutan Airline will start operations from 13 May onwards with its new direct flight weekly two days from Guwahati to Paro, Bhutan.
“Notably, LGBIA will operate 572 flights from Guwahati during this summer schedule,” the statement said.
