Guwahati: 40 houses gutted, property worth lakhs reduced to ashes in Hatigaon fire

A total of 40 houses were gutted and property worth lakhs were reduced to ashes in the massive fire that broke out in Hatigaon area of Guwahati last night.

As per inputs, the fire broke out at the residence of Riju Ali near the Ajanta path Chari-ali Masjid at around 10 PM.

A short circuit is believed to have caused the fire that turned into an inferno as several LPG cylinders exploded as the fire spread across the neighbourhood consisting of at least 100 houses made of bamboo.

While lives of the locals were saved in the nick of time, the inferno destroyed property and vehicles in the vicinity.

Several fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the inferno after much struggle.
